A robots.txt file is a text file placed in the root of your website that tells search engine crawlers which pages or sections they can crawl and which they should ignore.
If the robots.txt file contains a Disallow rule matching your page’s URL, the bot will not crawl that page. This may be intentional (for admin pages) or accidental.
Not always. If you don’t have a robots.txt file, search engines will crawl all accessible pages by default. However, most websites use one to control crawling.
Robots.txt prevents crawling but not necessarily indexing. If a blocked page is linked elsewhere, Google may still index the URL but without content. To prevent indexing, you should use a noindex meta tag.
